Lower Back Pain: How it Happens & How to Treat it

Lower Back Pain: How it Happens & How to Treat it

According to the American Chiropractic Association, 80% of the population will experience back pain at some point in their life. In fact, it’s one of the most popular reasons people reportedly miss work. Coincidentally, one of the leading causes of back pain are work-related environments that we cannot control. For example, someone who spends most of their day sitting at a desk with their lower back constantly compressed, will  likely experience chronic aches and pains.

What Exactly is Back Pain?

Your back is a complicated structure made up of bones, joints, and ligaments that are perfectly engineered to provide your body with strength, support and flexibility. However, the stresses of every life can leave you with a variety of strains, ruptures, and irritations that range in severity, eventually leading to back pain. Even the smallest dull pain shouldn’t go             ignored. What can start out as a mild discomfort can work up to a severely debilitating pain.

Signs You Should Seek Help for Back Pain:

  • You experienced a trauma, such as a car accident or bad fall.
  • Persisting pain that does not lessen over time
  • Pain at night
  • Weakness in your legs
  • Abdominal pain accompanied by back pain
  • Numbness or tingling in the inner thighs or legs
  • Bowel issues
  • Problems with balance
  • Fever accompanied by back pain
  • When you bend or flex your back and the pain worsens

How to Treat Back Pain

There are multiple avenues to take when it comes to treating back pain. Today, research supports seeking a chiropractor for spinal manipulation as the first choice over conventional medical doctors. Spinal manipulation is a safe, effective, non-invasive pain treatment that reduces pain and decreases the need for medication. Chiropractors are experts in musculoskeletal conditions, trained to not only treat your pain but solve the root cause of the problem.

Prevention is Key

As with most medical concerns, preventing back pains before they happen is ideal. Seeing your chiropractor on a regular basis can keep your spine in alignment and prevent future aches and pains from even starting. Your chiropractor will also provide you with exercises and tools that keep your spine in perfect condition on your own. By increasing joint mobility, you’ll improve your overall spinal health and give yourself the ability to better manage symptoms that cause back pain in the future.

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

It’s no secret that good nutrition and regular prenatal doctor visits are a part of any healthy pregnancy, but many might not realize there are other great supplemental treatments to help a mother’s changing body. From conception through postpartum, a woman’s body during pregnancy goes through a series of back, pelvic and posture changes that can cause unwanted discomfort.

Is is safe during pregnancy?

Chiropractic care is a 100% natural and drug-free method to keeping your body healthy and functioning optimally, and that is no different for pregnant women. In fact, regular chiropractic adjustments can result in special benefits for those expecting, including relief from pain and positioning the baby in utero. There are no known drawbacks, as all chiropractors are trained to work with pregnant women, some even have extensive pre and postnatal care specialties; be sure to let your doctor know if you are pregnant.

Benefits During Pregnancy

  1. Back, neck and joint pain relief – The core functionality of chiropractic adjustments are to keep your spine aligned and relieve or prevent pain. Pregnancy can be tough on the body as the weight of an expanding belly changes your posture; adjustments will correct problems and keep your spine in its intended position.
  2. Ease symptoms of nausea – All pregnant women experience different levels of pregnancy-related symptoms, such as nausea. One known benefit of spinal adjustments is improving digestive issues; fixing an out of place vertebrae could remediate morning sickness for some women.
  3. Prevention of potential cesarean delivery – Chiropractic care can reduce the chances of a cesarean delivery by helping position the baby correctly for birth. Adjustments will ensure the woman’s hips and spine are in place, avoiding the baby to turn sideways or breech.
  4. Improved labor and delivery – Proper joint alignment can help shorten labor and make the birthing process easier on the mother. If all of her muscular and organ nerves are healthy, labor and birth can be much less taxing than if there were an alignment issue. In addition, moms who desire a natural drug-free birth can use chiropractic care to help them accomplish that goal.

Benefits Postpartum

Chiropractic care can help with postpartum healing by correcting misalignments during birth and ensuring the mother’s body is on the quickest path to recovery. Some mothers find they experience additional posture pains resulting from feedings or carrying the new baby around. Chiropractic care is an important piece of health care for people of all life stages, but can be particularly beneficial for women expecting a child.

The Power of Stem Cells

The Power of Stem Cells: Understanding Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy

What is regenerative stem cell therapy?

Regenerative stem cell therapy is a promising non-surgical alternative for patients suffering from
chronic pain and disease. Our methodology uses mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), which are
cells harvested from donated human umbilical cords, that readily multiple to help repair muscle,
bone, cartilage, and tendons. It offers a long-term repair solution for pain that can help your
body regain components it needs to be stronger and healthier. Stem cell therapy essentially
capitalizes on your body’s natural healing ability to treat a variety of health complications and
get you back to the activity levels you desire.

How does it work?
As we age, our stem cells age with us, and we lose a percentage of them over time. Stem cell
therapy involves injecting young human umbilical cord stem cells into an injured area where
they quickly activate the body’s own self-healing mechanisms to boost fresh cell regeneration.
The injected cells will take cues from its surroundings and regenerate into similar types of cells,
repairing the injured site and restoring mobility.

Are you a candidate? Patients in situations of chronic pain and/or looking to improve their quality of life without the
need for surgery are the best candidates for stem cell therapy. The most common conditions
that stem cell therapy can help with are:
● Knee Injuries (MCL, ACL, PCL, LCL Sprains or Tears)
● Arthritis/Osteoarthritis
● Hip or Labral Tears
● Shoulder Damage
● Rotator cuff tears
● Chronic Lower Back Pain
● Wrist or Elbow
● Achilles Tendon
● Ankle Pain, Foot Pain
● Plantar Fasciitis

Advantages of Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy allows you to avoid invasive methods, such as surgery or pharmaceutical
treatments. However, the biggest advantage of stem cell therapy is the potential to not only heal
an injury, but to improve it to a higher level of functionality than before. After treatment, many
patients regain pain-free movement, and most are thrilled with the results.
